Columbus Children's Theatre

Artist's Narrative

Columbus Children's Theatre Columbus Children's Theatre has been producing for young audiences since 1963. One of the oldest children's theaters, our simple mission of "nurturing future artists and future audiences" emphasizes integrity, compassion, courage, friendship and creative discipline. We encourage self-discovery, self-esteem and social skills while providing opportunities for families to discover the magic of live theatre. CCT accomplished this through our professional touring company, a season of seven productions for young audiences at their theatre in Columbus, and also offering a comprehensive drama training program for students grades K-12, classes being offered year round.

Recent Feedback From Schools

"Our school was excited to see the Children's Theater. We had the theme of Fairy Tales for our Literacy Week. The theme for the day of the performance was "Sleeping Beauty," so all the children wore their PJ's. It was really awesome to have Children's Theater ask for audience participation and all the students in PJ's acted like they were falling asleep. I also loved when they had our teacher and students play a guest role in the performance. Priceless!"

This American folk hero is famous for planting apple trees all over the Midwest. But many of his stories are larger than life. Legend has it he wore a tin pan as a hat and walked hundreds of miles in bare feet - even in snow! He could move through forests without making a sound, he saved settlers from raids, fought in the battle of Tippecanoe, knew the great Indian Chief Tecumseh - and even knew Abraham Lincoln. But what is real and what is fiction? CCT brings to life Johnny Appleseed in many of his legendary adventures. After each one, your students get to vote on whether it was a myth or the truth, and learn the answer. An engaging, funny, and educational journey through the life of Johnny Appleseed.
